Our Approach
Whether you are a new Chair, an incoming Board member or an experienced director facing a particular challenge, we offer a confidential space to think clearly and act with purpose.
People come to us at different moments — stepping up to a first chairmanship, navigating a difficult board relationship, preparing for a significant transaction, or simply wanting to perform better in the role. Sessions are confidential, held one-to-one, and structured around the individual’s agenda rather than a fixed programme.
Our approach is built around the individual. We help each person to identify a range of options open to them, consider the likely consequences of each, and settle on a course of action that fits both the situation and their personal style. The focus throughout is practical: what will work, and how to make it happen.
Sean is a qualified executive coach and mentor, having completed the Meyler Campbell Mastered Business Coach Programme, which holds accreditation with The Worldwide Association of Business Coaches. He brings many years of experience as a board member himself, so the coaching is grounded in the realities of board life rather than theory alone.
Since 2011 Sean has been a member of the Kilfinan Group, a network of senior business people who provide free and confidential mentoring for charity Chief Executives. This has been genuinely two-sided: Sean brings business experience to charity CEOs navigating complex challenges, and gains in return a close understanding of how charities operate and what effective leadership looks like in that context.
The right conversation at the right moment can make a significant difference. We are here to have it

Sean O’Hare has enormous capacity to quickly assimilate large volumes of information and extract key information quickly. His perceptive analysis is calmly articulated in a way that’s both illuminating and instructive. When I came to Sean for coaching I was overwhelmed by unhealthy stress levels created by a chaotic approach to my business activities. By not acting decisively to correct some poor strategic choices, I was locked in a cycle of inefficiency and anxiety. Working with Sean over several sessions, I was able to see for myself how the cycle had been created, how I was allowing it to continue and, crucially, what I had to do to break it. His help in identifying achievable goals, a more disciplined business regime and a roadmap to a clearer state of mind made a huge difference at a difficult time.

Sean worked with me as an Executive Coach over a period of 12-18 months. His approach and insights were truly invaluable, at a period of time when I was at a crossroads personally and professionally. I was making some key life decisions and Sean helped me think through the benefits and challenges. He also encouraged me to be bold and open with my manager regarding those plans, so that we could work together to benefit us both. That was really key in helping me bring together my personal and professional plans. I would not hesitate to recommend Sean in this capacity. A thoroughly nice chap as well – I enjoyed the work we did together.
